This weekend Dreamhack is held in Jönköping. I'm representing NIB by creating and hosting a game called The Dreamhack Game. Dreamhack is one of the biggest - perhaps the biggest - LAN parties in the world. Thousands of computers connected to a local network for playing video games and other competitions. When it started in the mid 90's Dreamhack was for the few people who had a big technical interest and the computer skills to be able to connect and configure their computers to the network. Dreamhack has since gradually become a mainstream event where everyone can attend - and they do. There are over 10000 attendees at each event.
People of all ages attend Dreamhack and find different things which attract their interest. There is much more to do than play computer games on Dreamhack. There is a big talent show where people compete in front of judges, much like the TV versions but with the big difference that anything goes. Anyone who has drunk too many energy drinks can go up on stage and perform their act, or whatever it might be. There are also big artists playing on the main stage that is located in the middle of the largest hall surrounded by computers. At this event Tove Styrke is playing but the headliner for many is Dr. Bombay who has probably not been played on Swedish radio in the past 10 years.
