Design of a digital receptionist

This project aims to collect and exploit contextual information in order to provide a personalized user experience in a digital receptionist. By making the collected data visible we also hope to inspire users to think about what data they share consciously or unconsciously. The receptionist application will be used in the Gothenburg studio of Interaktionsbyrån where it will welcome visitors and provide personalized services to employees. We see this as a fitting environment to carry out the project in, since the work place is a setting where personal image can be an extra delicate matter - in business relations and among coworkers. We hope this will further enhance the feeling of importance when unexpected information is made visible

During spring, we've been designing and building a virutal receptionist, called "Amee", to welcome and provide services to visitors and employees of Interaktionsbyrån. We got reach of one of the first pair of Google Glass that reached Sweden. So, what happens if you use them 24-7? We at Interaktionsbyrån lived with Google Glass a pair of weeks. We have not only reflected around what the product is today but also discussed what it could be in the future. Where is the technology going and who will Glass 7.0 look like and what will it be able to do for us?

Design for Peripheral Vision

Learn more about how to exploit peripheral vision displays! visualization of information through peripheral vision i.e. how to exploit peripheral vision displays. The purpose of this study is to investigate how peripheral vision can be used for releasing resources from central vision. An overview of paradigms and opportunities in human vision is made for a better understanding regarding benefits and objections for using peripheral vision are presented. The hypothesis is that these design principles differ from information visualization through central vision. In conclusion information presented in the periphery is more sensitive for bad design choices than information presented in central vision.
